between a french press and a self cleaning espresso machine, which one will produce a richer and stronger cup?
of coffee since the water inside the french press will of course be boiling and the espresso might not be. can a coffee expert pls not only tell me but everyone else as well. or can anyone for that matter.
Thirty seconds for espresso makes a richer cup than 4 minutes in a french press. The reason french press takes so long is that it uses coarser ground coffee than espresso so it takes longer to extract the flavors.
French press coffee is much more flavorful than most brewing methods, but the act of brewing super fine grounds under pressure extracts more complex flavor compounds very quickly. You can use any coffee in a french press but since the flavors in espresso are so intense, you need to choose your beans more carefully since the mild bitter bite of an African bean that makes it "interesting" will possibly make your espresso "disgusting". That’s why most coffee snobs use blends for espresso and single origin beans for regular coffee.
Of course a french press makes a lot more coffee at one time.
A french press makes stronger coffee because the water is in contact with the coffee for a longer period of time.
