Can I use my espresso machine to prepare hot water?
I have a plain ol’ Mr. Coffee espresso/cappuccino maker that I keep around because I like the milk frother on it.
However I don’t like coffee or espresso, so that part hasn’t even been used!
Do you think I could just turn it on to use to make hot water for steeping tea, hot cocoa, etc. etc?
Yeah, just don’t put coffee grounds in the filter.
I have the same machine and yes you can. Instead of putting any coffee in it just simply leave it out and you can even take out the small metal filter if you choose. The water should heat up and then just drain through like it would with espresso but without the coffee. I don’t think I would subsititute anything in the place of where the coffee goes through though, just let the hot water go through and then do whatever you want with it.
