espresso machine damaged by vinegar?

Our espresso machine was cleaned with white wine vinegar(rather than plain white vinegar)and now it barely sputters to a finish, even after twenty minutes.I’m afraid the sugars in the wine vinegar gunked up the machine internals. Is there any validity to this worry and,if so,is there any way to remedy this?
update:I couldn’t find a specific cleaner so I just used 1 part white vinegar to 6 parts distilled water, and that worked perfectly. The machine is now running as before. Thanks for your help.

try re-cleaning it with white vinegar. and be sure to flush it several times with plain water afterwards. If this doesnt help…………. Good luck.

I think it would be a safer bet to try a quality coffee machine cleaner instead of more vinegar. They formulate these cleaners specifically for coffee machines… there might even be one for espresso machines.

You also might want to check your owner’s manual for troubleshooting tips. If you can’t find your manual, look up your model at the manufacturer’s website. They will have the manual online.

    good luck!
