    You make Lattes.

Here’s what you do: Put some milk in a coffee mug, fill it only half full. Tilt the cup slightly so the milk is not level in the cup. Put the "milk wand" (steam thing) in the milk so just the tip is covered, turn on the steam and let the milk swirl in the cup. If you want a cappicino or a frothy latte, let your milk wand catch some air.

Add flavor to the milk like caramel or mocha.. then add espresso..

Viola! You made a latte. Who needs Starbucks??

You can make a latte or a cappuccino with steamed milk and espresso — or a café au lait (French for coffee with milk!) with steamed milk and coffee. Lattes traditionally have half milk and half espresso (I think) while cappuccinos have 1/3 espresso, 1/3 milk, and 1/3 foam. The café au lait I’m not sure about the proportions on. I like cappuccinos better personally.

By pot thing – do you mean like a metal frothing pitcher? Steam the milk first, then combine with the espresso. If you don’t have a frothing pitcher and little thermometer, you should get one to acheive uber coffee nerdiness. ;)
